José Tornero studied law at the University of La Laguna (Tenerife, Canary Islands). Then he completed his studies at the School of Legal Practice of the Bar Association of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. He finished a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) at the University of La Laguna in 2011. Subsequently, he completed his training as a mediator at the University of Valencia in 2013.
José Tornero established a German-Spanish law firm in Tenerife in 2010, before joining Lozano, Hilgers & Partner SLP in 2012, where he leads the Litigation department since 2014.
José Tornero advises both private individuals and companies in the fields of civil and criminal proceedings at national and international level, with a particular emphasis on the design of the procedural strategy. As a mediator, he has experience in achieving out-of-court agreements and amicable settlements of disputes.
He is an expert in issues concerning business criminal law and compliance. Thereby, he represents the economic interests of multinationals at both national and European level. There the points of conflict are examined, claims are asserted, the resulting risks and opportunities are analysed and the way of proceeding is decided. Furthermore, he has many years of experience in the field of sales distribution law, as well as advising both private individuals and companies with regard to international court proceedings, such as precautionary and enforcement measures, civil damage proceedings and order for payment procedures.
In addition, José Tornero has specific expertise in the areas of labour law, IP/IT and franchising, in which regard he extensively advises European companies and undertakes the representation and litigation before the competent authorities and courts.
José Tornero is a member of the Spanish-German Association of Jurists as well as of the Spanish-Austrian Association of Jurists.
